GEORGE LOPEZ: THE TROUBLE WITH RICKY (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series, set in Los Angeles, in which comedian George Lopez plays family man "George Lopez." In this episode, George is annoyed to see that Max has invited his friend Ricky, who once memorably helped to burn down the Lopezes' garage, over to the house again. Ernie happily announces that he has become a youth soccer referee, and when Carmen attempts to blackmail her brother for secretly allowing his no-good friend to sleep overnight, Max tries to sneak Ricky out in a garbage bag, though George and Angie are not fooled. When Angie calls Ricky's single mother Wendy, however, she discovers that she is going through a difficult personal situation and invites Ricky to stay for a few more days, much to George's irritation. Ricky behaves like the perfect houseguest and cooks for the family in the morning, though George does not trust his sudden change of heart, and sure enough, Ricky soon convinces Max to cut school.
Ernie tells George that he is through with refereeing after an encounter with some intense soccer moms, and when George receives a call that Max has not arrived at school, he rushes home to find that Max and Ricky have crashed the family car through the fence. Furious, he drags Ricky back home, but soon finds that Wendy is an unstable alcoholic and reluctantly brings him back to his house to stay after all. Angie realizes that George identifies with the boy's difficult home life and wants to help him, but points out that he is still a bad influence on Max. The problem is neatly solved when Ernie, who lives with his parents and has no social life to speak of, offers to let Ricky stay with him for a short time. Later, George attempts to use Ricky's method to escape a boring poetry reading. Includes commercials and promos.
