IMUS IN THE MORNING: LIVE FROM THE MUSEUM OF TELEVISION & RADIO, PT. 1 OF 3 (RADIO)

Summary

One in this series of morning radio programs hosted by the outlandish Don Imus. Part one of three in this special edition, which was broadcast live from The Museum of Television & Radio. First, Charles McCord reads the news, which includes reports on the following: President Bill Clinton's decision to send troops to Bosnia, Congressional legislation on defense spending, the Whitewater scandal, balanced budget talks in the House and the Senate, and the fate of the man responsible for the collapse of Britain's oldest bank. Mike Breen reads the sports report, which includes excerpts from the Giants' football game, and Imus comments on being at The Museum of Television & Radio and talks to his wife on the phone about her relationship with his cat. Following a "Media Watch," in which a Walter Cronkite impersonator roasts Don Imus, Imus comments on the live audience before him; Eileen Marchese-Cohen gives a traffic report; and Imus attempts to figure out why The Museum of Television & Radio exists and later promotes the "JEEP giveaway contest." Next, Imus comments on the Senate race in Massachusetts; McCord reads the news, which includes a comment by Senator Al D'Amato (R-NY), who denounces sending U.S. troops to Bosnia; Imus explains why his brother, Fred, will not be heard on the day's broadcast and tells listeners to phone in T-shirt orders to his brother's company quickly; Marchese-Cohen reads the weather and traffic report; impersonators of Clinton and Beavis speak about the situation in Bosnia; and Breen reports on sports events and jokes about Martina Navratilova's search for a female mate. Then, Cousin Brucie talks with Imus about the following: the death of Wolfman Jack, a photo he had taken at a Beatles concert in the 1960s, John Lennon stamps, the start of his radio career, great radio disc jockeys, the payola scandal, his photography, his company Multi Market Radio, and his plans to appear on the science fiction series "Babylon 5." Next, CBS Sports broadcaster Pat O'Brien talks to Imus about the accomplishments of CBS; McCord reviews the news; Imus comments on his brother's mysterious illness; James Brown impersonator Rob Bartlett and the Bartletts sing "The Big Buttered Woman"; Breen gives a sports update; and O'Brien comments on his checkered career and his bald spot. Part one concludes with a "Media Watch" in which a Cronkite impersonator roasts CBS. Continues with R:12864.
