ROCKFORD FILES, THE: DEADLOCK IN PARMA {SERIES FINALE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas about the cases of private detective Jim Rockford, an ex-convict, who was imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit and who tends to get involved in cases his self-protective instincts tell him to avoid. In this program, Rockford finds himself caught between two rival factions in an upcoming election in the small town of Parma. Rockford's camping buddy, John Trayner, stresses the importance of the upcoming bill that would preserve land in Parma. However, when Trayner apparently becomes ill, he asks Rockford to serve as his proxy at the election. The bill in question, however, will not only preserve land but will also legalize gambling in the town. As a result, Rockford finds himself trapped between the agendas of two persuasive parties that differ on the issue of casinos in Parma. While Rockford is unwilling to risk his neck for either side in this conflict, he finds himself with no other alternative. Rockford tries to leave town more than once, but the adamant townspeople keep bringing him back to Parma so that he can cast the deciding vote. In the midst of the confusion, Rockford discovers Trayner's dead body in a tent just outside of town. Meanwhile, a young vivacious female reporter decides that the situation would make a fantastic story, and she teams up with Rockford to unmask the murderer. Commercials deleted.
