KUNG FU: THE CHALICE (TV)
Summary
One in this stylized western series about Kwai Chang Caine, a peace-loving Shaolin monk of American and Chinese parentage who flees China for the American West after killing a member of the Chinese royal family. During each episode, Caine recalls the teachings and experiences of his youth which guide him to accomplish his goals through either nonviolence or, when pushed, his skill in the martial arts. In this episode, Caine finds himself on a quest to save a dead priest from damnation. While traveling along the shore, Caine sees the priest shot by four bandits who steal a golden chalice from the dying man's hands. The priest asks Caine to find the four men and to return the chalice to the Mission where it belongs. The priest had previously stolen it, and his soul will not ascend to heaven until the wrong has been put right. Being a man of his word, Caine sets out to retrieve the chalice, but finds that he has more trouble on his hands when he offends a gunslinger named Staggers. During this episode, Caine recalls being accepted into the Chinese temple, leaving the temple, and fleeing from the Imperial guards of China. Includes commercials.
