ADVENTURES OF OZZIE AND HARRIET, THE: RICKY THE DRUMMER (TV)

Summary

One in this long-running domestic comedy series about the real-life Nelson family: Ozzie Nelson and his wife Harriet Hilliard, a former band leader and band singer respectively, and their two sons, David and Ricky. This rebroadcast of a 1957 episode is significant as it features Ricky's first appearance as a rock-and-roll singer. The action revolves around a dance at which Tommy Jackson and his band are playing. When the band's manager, Mr. Martin, asks Harriet whether Ricky can fill in on the night of the dance, the Nelson family assumes that Ricky is needed to substitute for the drummer. They are all disappointed, however, when they learn that Ricky is only needed to transport and set up the band. The evening improves for the Nelsons when Jackson and the band become aware of the confusion and rectify the situation. Includes commercials.
