AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE: STORY OF A MARRIAGE, PART 1: COURTSHIP (TV)

Summary

One in this dramatic anthology series. Part one of this five-part presentation. This program is based on Horton Foote's drama about a family in a small Texan town at the beginning of the 20th century. Two daughters, Elizabeth and Laura, are forced by their father, Mr. Vaughn, to stay home while other youngsters attend a dance. Their father does not wish for the two to get married; consequently, they must cope with the restrictions he imposes on their lives. Nevertheless, Elizabeth is being courted by Horace Robedaux, who Mr. Vaughn dislikes because of the young man's humble origins. Part one closes as Elizabeth firmly tells Laura that she will defy her father's wishes and marry Horace if she is asked. Includes a preview of part two. Continues with T:21389.
