DOOGIE HOWSER, M.D.: THERE'S A RIOT GOING ON {FOURTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about teenage genius Doogie Howser, M.D., the youngest doctor in the country, who attempts to live his life as a normal adolescent. In this episode, the hospital is besieged with patients as the Los Angeles riots rage out of control. Everyone on the staff is working frantically to help the wounded who are awaiting treatment, and even Vinnie gets drawn into the act by helping to entertain a group of children as their teacher is treated for burns. As Doogie works on a patient, he requires the assistance of Raymond, who notices stolen items in the patient's jacket. Unable to control his emotions, Raymond lectures the patient on stealing from his own people and community. Doogie overhears this and, in turn, lectures Raymond about his treatment of patients, regardless of race. Meanwhile, Vinnie has run out of options to keep the children occupied and decides to answer their questions about the riots and why they are happening. Later, a pregnant woman with a gunshot wound to the stomach is rushed into the emergency room. Knowing that he can lose both the patient and the unborn baby, Doogie pleads for help from anyone with two free hands. As a result, the patient whom Raymond had lectured steps up and offers his assistance. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements. This program is closed-captioned.
