M*A*S*H {MASH}: SOMETIMES YOU HEAR THE BULLET (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedy programs about the men and women of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M*A*S*H) stationed behind the lines during the Korean War. In this episode, Hawkeye receives a surprise visit from a childhood friend, and he also discovers that a young appendectomy patient has lied about his age in order to join the Marines. Hawkeye's old friend, Tommy Gillis, had his choice of assignments as a war correspondent, so Hawkeye is surprised to learn that his friend prefers to experience the war as a soldier simply because he is writing a book called "You Never Hear the Bullet." After Tommy returns to his unit, Hawkeye and Trapper John discover a young Marine who needs his appendix removed but seems too young to be in the service. Hawkeye learns that the teen-age boy has lied about his age to prove himself to his girlfriend, who dropped the boy for a soldier. Meanwhile, Frank has back pains, so he and Houlihan apply for a Purple Heart. Ron Howard plays the role of the appendectomy patient. Commercials deleted.
