Summary
One in this series of programs for young children, hosted by Fred Rogers, which uses puppets and music to teach patience and cooperation, while providing guidance to help children cope with feelings and frustrations. In this episode, Mr. Rogers discusses his work as executive producer and host of the television program, "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," and he shows pictures of earlier programs in the series. Moving behind the scenes, Mister Rogers indicates that his "house" is actually a set in a studio, and then introduces the band and points out the cameramen and monitors. Also, Mister Rogers imagines the latest developments in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, where hand-puppet characters interact with humans in the mythical kingdom of King Friday XIII. The big event in the neighborhood is the installation of new water pipes and a new community pool. Other highlights include the following: Mister Rogers sings "It's You I Like"; Rogers talks about the kind of work that children do and shows a film of children engaged in a variety of activities; and Bob Trow gives Rogers sketches that he made of some of the neighbors.
