MYSTERY!: CAMPION, SERIES 2: MYSTERY MILE {PART 1 OF 2} (TV)

Summary

Part one of a two-part program in this mystery anthology series. This program features mystery novelist Margery Allingham's sarcastic blueblood detective, Albert Campion, who is assisted by his very own observant "Dr. Watson," Magersfontein Lugg. In part one of this episode, Campion is hired by an American named Marlowe Lobbett to protect his father, Judge Lobbett, from being killed by members of a viscious gang. The judge feels he is close to discovering the identity of the gang's leader, who goes by the name of "Sinister." Campion manages to get the Lobbett family, who are visiting London, to stay at the estate of his friends Biddy and Giles Pagett on Mystery Mile. Shortly after the Lobbetts' arrival there, a palm reader visits the house and "predicts the future" of many of the occupants, including a minister, who kills himself shortly afterwards. The reverend leaves behind mysterious clues which Campion believes hold deep meaning in this case. A few days later, Judge Lobbett mysteriously disappears in the estate's maze. His family and newfound friends can find no trace of his whereabouts. However, they do fear that he may have been dumped into quicksand. Meanwhile, an art dealer named Alistair Barber, who was hired by Judge Lobbett, arrives to evaluate the authenticity of a painting owned by the Pagetts. Continues with T:29981.
