FAMILY TIES: YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about the Keaton family -- Elyse and Steven, two aging ex-hippies, and their conservative, materialistic children. In this episode, Mallory and Alex apprehend a shoplifter at the store where Mallory works. Despite the shoplifter's pleas, Mallory calls security so they can deal with the situation. Mallory starts to feel sorry for the young shoplifter, Jessie, who lives at a children's home and who had been abused by her parents. Mallory decides to visit Jessie, who acts aloof and uninterested in having company, but Mallory insists that she come to the house for dinner. After spending time with the Keatons, Jessie starts to feel comfortable. When Mallory asks her about her upbringing, Jessie opens up to a certain degree. But after some time has passed, Mallory is worried because she has not seen Jessie at all. Then Jessie comes by the store and begins to shoplift again, disappointing Mallory, who is incredulous about the girl's unwillingness to change. Commercials deleted. This program is closed-captioned.
