Summary
One in this mystery anthology series. Host Diana Rigg introduces part three of this four-part program, which follows Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison on a racially-charged murder investigation. In this episode, Tennison interrogates a dying David Harvey, while, unbeknownst to her, Detective Oswalde grills a nervous Tony Allen about the same crime. Tennison manages to coax a deathbed confession from Harvey but doubts the veracity of his story. Meanwhile, Oswalde can force no confession from the unstable young Tony, who hangs himself in his cell once the detective departs. As a result, Oswalde is suspended from the case. Tennison learns that the Allen family may know more about the details of the murder than they have heretofore admitted, but it is not until she scours David Harvey's former apartment that she realizes which parties were involved in the murder.
