LAW & ORDER {LAW AND ORDER}: VIRTUE (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas that deals with the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of criminals. The first half of each episode concerns the police procedure that leads to the arrest of a suspect, while the second half covers the efforts of the district attorney to prosecute the case. In this episode, detectives Briscoe and Logan investigate the death of a young woman killed by a drunk driver. They discover that the deceased had claimed she had been raped by Councilman Talbert, a respected public servant. Assistant district attorneys McCoy and Kincaid decide they must find other victims of the councilman in order to establish a criminal pattern. This leads them to Sarah Maslin, a lawyer in a high position, who had worked with Talbert before he ran for public office. Three years earlier Talbert had threatened to destroy Maslin's career if she did not sleep with him. Knowing that he had the power to do it, Maslin consented. Having a weak case for the rape charge, McCoy and Kincaid decide to prosecute Talbert under a controversial charge of "larceny by extortion." Commercials deleted.
