NYPD BLUE: DEAD AND GONE (TV)
Summary
One in this series of rough-edged police dramas about the cases and private lives of the detectives and station house personnel of a Manhattan precinct. In this episode, detectives John Kelly and Andy Sipowicz arrive at the scene of an apparent drive-by-shooting, and meet Duane Rollins -- the driver of the bullet-pierced car -- a young man whose girlfriend's eighteen-month-old baby girl was with him and was shot to death; a prostitute named Lois calls Andy for help when the police detective she was sleeping with dies in her bed; police investigators, led by Borough Commander Haverill, come to the station house to interview people about Kelly's conduct; Kelly interrogates Duane, sensing that the defensive young man actually knows his assailants and that drugs are at the root of the attack; Kelly questions the mother of the dead baby, a nineteen-year-old prostitute named Sandy who will not reveal any information about Duane; Martinez takes Sandy to the morgue to see her child and, overcome, she tells the truth about the shooting. Meanwhile, Sipowicz relocates the body of the dead detective, to spare his family; Dan Breen berates Sipowicz for neglecting his AA meetings; and Haverill decides Kelly's fate with the force.
