LAW & ORDER {LAW AND ORDER}: HELPLESS (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas that deals with the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of criminals. The first half of each episode concerns the police procedure that leads to the arrest of a suspect, while the second half covers the efforts of the district attorney to prosecute the case. In this episode, Dr. Olivet decides to press charges against a gynecologist who molested her. However, due to lack of evidence the case cannot be brought to trial. Dr. Olivet decides to go back to the doctor with a tape recorder, hoping to get incriminating evidence of his actions on tape. Unfortunately, the doctor gives her a sedative which prevents her from being able to move and he rapes her. Assistant District Attorney Stone takes the case to court and the defense attorney accuses the police department of entrapment. Still, the jury finds the defendant guilty. The judge, however, refuses to accept the verdict. Stone and Robinette find that they must find another way to assure that the gynecologist will pay for his crimes. Commercials deleted.
