
KNOTS LANDING: AFTERSHOCK (TV)
Summary
One in this night-time drama serial, spun off from the series "Dallas," about the residents of the small southern California community of Knots Landing. Highlights of this episode include the following: Abby and Gary Ewing and Gregory Sumner watch as the telecommunications center of the Empire Valley development explodes and a sniper hired by John Coblentz to kill Gary leaves his position on a hill nearby; later, Gary gives Abby the silent treatment, furious over her involvement in the Empire Valley mess; Greg grows suspicious when he learns that Peter Hollister has removed all the Empire Valley files from his office and taken them to the vault; Greg tells Abby to keep the press away from the Empire Valley story or he will tell Gary the truth about Valene's babies; Gary talks with Karen and Mack MacKenzie -- who witnessed the explosion -- and tells them he set it off to keep Coblentz from killing him and Abby; a grieving Lilimae begins to exert pressure on Cathy Geary, claiming the young singer has a responsibility to the fans of Cathy's late husband Joshua Rush -- Lilimae's son -- who was a popular television preacher; Abby angrily confronts Gary and asks him how long he plans to pretend she doesn't exist, to which he gives no answer; Abby, and Karen have a hostile confrontation when Karen is irked that Abby has taken a sudden interest in the Lotus Point real estate development, a project Karen has been carrying herself while Abby was involved in other matters; Greg tells Coblentz he will tell the press the truth about the expolosion, knowing that Coblentz & Associates are terrified of publicity and will pull out; Lilimae returns home to live with Val, and Val worries that her husband Ben Gibson will be upset; Greg holds a press conference at Galveston Industries and whitewashes the Empire Valley situation, claiming that Gary Ewing, as primary contractor, blew up the building with the approval of the board of directors because of major structural flaws in the foundation; a young woman arrives to visit Lilimae, says she loved Joshua, and is surprised when Lilimae angrily denies that Joshua took his own life; Greg tells Gary he made him out to be a hero and in return asks for the Empire Valley land; Gary declines angrily; the young woman who spoke with Lilimae goes to the police and tells them that someone may have killed Joshua; Greg talks to his father's portrait and says he hates him, that he himself was weak to let him manipulate him from beyond the grave, and declares he will now be as hard and unyielding to his competitors as Galveston was to his. Commercials deleted.
