TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JOHNNY CARSON, THE {ROBIN WILLIAMS, JONATHAN WINTERS, PARK OVERALL} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of late-night talk/variety programs hosted by Johnny Carson. On this program, the guests include comedians Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters, and actress Park Overall. In his opening monologue, Carson comments on the following topics, among others: the latest problems developing in Iraq and how the media glorify this news with catchy promos; President George Bush launching his campaign at the Grand Canyon; how Bush always seems to find the appropriate background for his new proposals; the fact that the Democratic candidates are primarily bachelors; a two-ton elephant at the Los Angeles Zoo having its toe nails clipped; and the numerous new cast members joining television sitcoms in order to boost ratings. The first guest, Robin Williams, talks about watching the Supreme Court hearings on Clarence Thomas; why instead of hearings, he thinks they should have a talent show; the right-to-life supporters; finding German-made weapons in Iraq; completing the filming of "Hook," in which he plays Peter Pan; studying Shakespeare at Juilliard; what it would be like if porn stars were classically-trained Shakespearean actors; his next film, "The Fisher King" (and a clip from the film is shown); what he would pick if he were given a choice between doing comedy or drama; and what it was like working with Jonathan Winters on "Mork & Mindy." Next, they are joined by Jonathan Winters, who comments on winning an Emmy award for "Davis Rules"; not attending the awards show, but watching it on television; the stress involved in doing a television show as one gets older; whether he gets back home to Ohio at all; his fear of earthquakes; his recent visit to a dog show; and how people are always talking about the next earthquake as the "big one." The last guest, Park Overall, discusses where she got the moonshine she presented to Carson; whether her Southern accent is real and how people are always claiming she's faking it; and her plans for marriage in the future. Includes commercials and promos.
