Summary
One in this series of dramas about the emergency room team of an inner-city Chicago hospital. This episode begins with Dr. Lewis reviving a baby who has stopped breathing. Highlights of this episode include: a family is brought to the hospital after its car is hit by a drunken driver; Dr. Carter experiences his first exposure to a life-threatening situation; Dr. Lewis tries to help a confused, senile man whom the psychiatric department refuses to give a bed; Dr. Benton disagrees with a patient's doctor concerning his treatment of abdominal pain; Dr. Greene's wife passes the bar exam and wants him to leave the hospital; a husband says good-bye to his eighty-six-year-old wife after she refuses life support; Dr. Carter treats a young woman's poison ivy with surprising personal results; a bride and many of her guests get food poisoning at her wedding reception; and Dr. Ross blames himself for Nurse Hathaway's suicide attempt. Commercials deleted.
