DIAGNOSIS MURDER: MURDER BLUES {FIFTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of mystery programs about Dr. Mark Sloan, a physician at Community General Hospital who enjoys solving murder cases with the help of his son, Steve, a homicide detective. In this episode, a woman is found shot to death in her home. When she is identified as Councilman Watson's estranged wife, Steve goes with two other detectives to Watson's house -- only to find a trail of blood leading to his door, and traces of blood in his sink. Watson is clearly the prime suspect, although he convinces his physician, Dr. Sloan, of his innocence. Surprisingly, when they do an autopsy and examine the blood at Watson's house, it appears that he has been framed. Dr. Sloan then tries to deduce who could have framed Watson and murdered his wife, and what their motives might be. Among several possible suspects are Police Chief Masters, who is vying against Watson for the mayorship, and notorious police officer Tony Stang, who bears a grudge against the councilman. But after a second shooting takes place, Steve and Dr. Sloan pair up with Captain Pike, and they find that there is a far more complicated conspiracy at work than they had ever anticipated.
