PRACTICE, THE: DUTY BOUND (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas about the idealistic attorneys at a struggling Boston law practice. In this episode, Father Michael Ryan, a friend of Jimmy Berluti, is accused of killing sixteen-year-old Donald Lawson. Although Ryan vehemently denies any involvement with the youth, the following evidence leads to him: Lawson's body was found in Ryan's office, it was shown that pedophilic web sites were accessed from Ryan's computer, and Ryan's fingerprints were found in the victim's home. Church worker Barry Wall tells Jimmy that he and Ryan were lovers, but when Father Ryan learned of an affair between Wall and Lawson, he killed Lawson in a jealous rage. Jimmy has his own ideas about who committed the murder, but before he can test his theory, he is shot outside the church and ends up in a coma. Making matters worse, Ryan knows who the killer is, but is bound by the secrecy of the confessional to keep the knowledge to himself. Meanwhile, Ellenor confronts her boyfriend, Dr. Fred Spivak, about the scams he perpetrates on medical insurance companies. Against her better judgment, she warns him that his activities are under investigation. Nonetheless, he is arrested and Ellenor acts as his attorney -- with disastrous results. The program ends as Jimmy, sensing danger, cleverly manages to convey to Bobby who the murderer really is. Commercials deleted.
