TWILIGHT ZONE, THE: THE MASKS (TV)
Summary
One in this science fiction/fantasy anthology series hosted by Rod Serling.
In this episode, the ancient, dying millionaire Jason Foster strikes a peculiar bargain with his hateful heirs: He will leave them all of his vast estate, provided they wear a selection of grotesque Mardi Gras masks until the stroke of midnight. Foster's daughter, Emily Harper, and her family are an unpleasant lot -- by turns sniveling, cruel, stupid, and vain. The Harpers make an unconvincing show of sympathy and concern for the dying patriarch, struggling unsuccessfully to conceal their greedy anticipation of his imminent death. Not fooled for a moment, Foster presents each with a mask that graphically embodies their particular vices. The Harpers sweat and complain through their ordeal until midnight, when Foster dies and the masks are removed to reveal that a cruel, poetic justice has been served. Commercials deleted.
