THAT '70S SHOW: THAT '70S PILOT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The first in this series of comedies, set in a small Wisconsin town during the 1970s, about Eric Forman, his family, and his friends -- Donna, Hyde, Kelso, Jackie, and Fez -- who hang out in the Forman basement. In this episode, Eric is sent on a mission to steal some beers from his parents' party upstairs. While he is orchestrating this heist he overhears his father talking about getting rid of the gas-guzzling Vista Cruiser. Eric informs his father that he will gladly take over the car, but Red is resistant to this plan. Eric returns to the basement with the purloined beers and tells his friends about the car. Meanwhile, dim-witted Kelso makes the mistake of mentioning the gang's plans to go to a Todd Rundgren concert in front of his girlfriend Jackie and is forced to invite her along. Red hands the coveted Vista Cruiser keys to Eric but forbids his son to travel out of town. Donna convinces Eric to disobey Red's order and drive the friends to the Todd Rundgren event. On the way to the concert, the battery dies, and they are forced to trade two tickets for a new battery. The majority of the concertgoers decide to trade Kelso's and Jackie's tickets, and the two love birds remain in the parking lot. Upon arriving back home, Eric gets a surprise from Donna to end his night. Commercials deleted.
