Summary

One in this series of dramas about the day-to-day running of the White House and the lives of its staff. This episode centers around President Bartlet's decision to appoint a moderate judge named Peyton Harrison to a seat on the United States Supreme Court. Retiring Justice Joseph Crouch expresses his displeasure with the President's choice, believing liberal Roberto Mendoza to be a much better candidate. Further complications arise when Sam uncovers a controversial document believed to be authored by Harrison. Meanwhile, Mandy and C. J. must decide how to respond to opposition Congressman Peter Lillianfield's claim that one in three White House staffers uses drugs on a regular basis. Toby and Leo agree to look into the accusation and put Josh in charge of the investigation. Commercials deleted.
