LAW & ORDER {LAW AND ORDER}: DISSONANCE (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramas that deals with the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of criminals. The first half of each episode concerns the police procedure that leads to the arrest of a suspect, while the second half covers the efforts of the district attorney to prosecute the case. This episode involves the murder of Natalie Dreisner, a young violinist with the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra, and the disappearance of her extremely valuable violin. There are a number of suspects in this case due to jealousy over her rapid rise to prominence within the orchestra's ranks and her known affair with its conductor, Carl Regen. Briscoe and Green discover that stagehand Jay Brannigan stole and sold the violin in order to get revenge since Natalie dismissed Brannigan's advances, but they don't believe that he was involved in the murder. In addition, on the night of Natalie's murder, her agent had convinced her to leave both the orchestra and Carl Regen, thereby arousing more suspicion and leading to further complications. Regen is arrested for the crime, and Carmichael and McCoy find some damaging information that convinces Regan's wife, Marian, to testify against him. However, while Marian is on the witness stand, she has some surprises in store for both the prosecution and the defense. Commercials deleted.
