Summary
One in this darkly comic, dramatic series centering around the crime empire and family life of Tony Soprano, a modern-day Mafia boss. In this episode, another sanitation truck is bombed after more disagreements over local garbage routes. Tony meets Meadow's friend from school, Noah. After discovering that Noah is African American and Jewish by heritage, Tony not-so-politely warns Noah that he and Meadow have no future together. Later, Carmela finds Tony passed out cold on the kitchen floor, apparently from another anxiety attack. While visiting his mother Livia, Tony warns her not to testify about the stolen airline tickets he gave her. His fears are assuaged permanently when Livia dies of a stroke in her sleep. Following Livia's death, Janice comes home from Seattle and insists on a funeral service, although it was their mother's explicit wish not to have one. The funeral takes place; against Tony's wishes, Janice forms a "circle of remembrance," but it doesn't turn out quite as expected. Meanwhile, the FBI has Tony's house bugged and moreover sends flowers and a signed card to the funeral. In a therapy session, Tony admits that he feels glad his mother is dead, and guilty for having that feeling.
