WEDNESDAY NIGHT MOVIES: RUBY AND OSWALD (TV)

Summary

A three-hour dramatization (aired on the "Wednesday Night Movies" series) of the murders of Pres. John F. Kennedy and his killer, Lee Harvey Oswald; includes authentic footage. This segment establishes Ruby's violent nature and his admiration for Kennedy; covers Oswald's marital problems and his preparations for shooting Kennedy; and depicts Kennedy's arrival and enthusiastic welcome in Dallas. Oswald shoots Kennedy and, in his escape, shoots a policeman. Closes as police capture Oswald in a movie theater.

In the aftermath of the assassination, the police hold and question Oswald and discover his rifle is missing from his home. Ruby goes to the police station and manages to secure an interview with the district attorney. Ruby stays up all night, watches TV coverage of the assassination, takes out his own gun.

Oswald is in jail as the police prepare to transfer him to the county jail. Ruby, at home, becomes frantic and goes to the police station. As Oswald is led out to be transferred, Ruby shoots him. Oswald dies on the operating table. Commercials deleted.
