
ABC AFTERSCHOOL SPECIAL: BACKWARDS: THE RIDDLE OF DYSLEXIA (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas intended for young audiences. In this drama, a boy named Brian struggles with dyslexia. He starts junior high school and amazes his teachers with his ability to memorize passages by Shakespeare and calculate math problems in his head. However, he perturbs them with his inability to write clearly or read. Ashamed of his learning disorder, Brian compensates by being a class clown. With the help of a supportive classmate and concerned parents and teachers, Brian finally explains what he sees when he tries to read. After a series of tests, Brian is diagnosed as having dyslexia and is enrolled in a learning center where he is taught techniques to get around his problem. At the end of the program, famous people with problems similar to Brian's are listed. Includes commercials and promos.
