HALLMARK HALL OF FAME: AUNT MARY (TV)
Summary
Part one of two. One in this series of dramatic specials presented by Hallmark. This drama is based on the true story of Mary Dobkin, who overcame a handicap and went on to coach sandlot baseball for forty years. Mary was found passed out in the snow as a child and raised in a hospital. She spent thirty-three years there and received over 30 operations on her foot. Through her love of baseball, Mary wins the hearts of the neighborhood children and becomes coach of their baseball team. Meanwhile, she suffers from more leg problems and is told that her leg must be partially amputated. After the operation she becomes a recluse, but eventually she meets a young boy with one arm who inspires her to continue coaching. Commercials deleted.

(Beginning with the live telecast of the opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors" on December 24, 1951, Hallmark has sponsored a series of dramatic specials which, since 1952, has aired under the title "Hallmark Hall of Fame." From 1952 to 1955 Hallmark also presented "Hallmark Hall of Fame," a weekly half-hour dramatic anthology series hosted by Sarah Churchill. The first program, "Dr. Serocold," was televised in January 1952 under the title "Hallmark Television Theatre." This series also ran under the title "Hallmark Summer Theatre" in July and August 1952.)
