CARNEGIE HALL SALUTES JACK BENNY (TV)
Summary
A special broadcast from Carnegie Hall in New York City,
honoring Jack Benny's support of music. Eugene Ormandy
conducts the Philadelphia Orchestra in an overture by
Kabalevsky and praises Isaac Stern for his role in
saving Carnegie Hall. Stern performs a movement from
Lalo's "Symphonie Espagnole," followed by Benny
Goodman and his sextet. Roberta Peters sings an aria
from Verdi's "Rigoletto," followed by Van Cliburn
performing the final movement of the Second Piano
Concerto by Edward MacDowell. Benny and Stern join in
the first movement of Bach's Concerto for Two Violins in
D Minor and Stern presents Benny with a plaque. The
program closes with an excerpt from the opera
"Schwanda." Includes commercials and promos.
