One in this series of music programs. Actor Burgess Meredith hosts the first of many holiday tributes in this celebration of Veterans Day. "The Salute to the American Soldier," with original music by Hershey Kay, features Meredith and Broadway star John Raitt discussing the meaning of heroism against images of various American wars. Also featured is a medley of Irving Berlin songs performed by Raitt, Jaye P. Morgan, and Johnny Desmond; and the ballet "An American in Paris" performed by Allegra Kent, Taina Elg, and Jacques D'Amboise. Fifteen-year-old pianist Lorin Hollander plays selections by Frederic Chopin and Camille Saint-Saens, and Includes commercials.
