John W. Madigan

John W. Madigan joined Tribune as vice president and chief financial officer in 1975. Prior to joining Tribune, he was an audit manager at Arthur Andersen & Co., vice president with Paine, Webber, Jackson & Curtis, and later a vice president with Salomon Brothers. He is also a past chairman of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and The Commercial Club of Chicago. He serves as a trustee of Northwestern University, Rush University Medical Center, The Paley Center for Media, The Hoover Institution (retired), and The Associated Press (retired).

Salih Memecan


Salih Memecan is a prominent Turkish cartoonist. His political cartoon strip, titled Bizimcity, and his comic cartoon strip, titled Sizinkiler, is printed daily by Sabah newspaper. In addition, the animated version of Bizimcity airs daily on the primetime news program on ATV. Memecan also submits weekly cartoons to Aktuel, news magazine. His cartoons have appeared in major US newspapers, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Baltimore Sun, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Edward H. Meyer

Edward H. Meyer is the chairman, chief executive officer, and chief investment officer of Ocean Road Advisors, an investment management company. From 1972 to 2006, he served as chairman, chief executive officer, and president of Grey Global Group, building it into one of the world’s largest communications services groups. He is a director of HARMAN, Ethan Allen, National CineMedia, Retail Opportunity Investments Corp, and the Jim Pattison Group. He is also a trustee of the New York University Langone Medical Center, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, and the Film Society of Lincoln Center.

Raita Nakashima

Raita Nakashima is general manager for business and legal affairs for the corporate strategy division at WOWOW INC., the leading company in satellite broadcasting and the number one premium pay channel in Japan. Prior to this he was deputy general manager for WOWOW’s media strategy division and before that, deputy general manager of the programming division. He received his MA in journalism from Doshisha University.

Steven Newhouse


Steve Newhouse is the chairman of Advance.net, the holding company for Advance Publications’ national and local Internet efforts. Advance Publications is made up of a newspaper group with twenty-six daily newspapers and numerous weekly newspapers, American City Business Journals, Condé Nast Publications, Parade Publications, Fairchild Publications, and a cable television company. Since 1993, Newhouse has worked in a variety of corporate jobs, with an emphasis on publishing on the Internet. He was involved in the launch of New Jersey Online (nj.com) one of the first newspaper-related Web sites to appear on the Web.

Edward N. Ney

Edward Ney is a businessman and former diplomat, and currently holds the title of chairman emeritus at Young & Rubicam. He is widely regarded as one of businesses' leading advertising counselors and strategic marketers. In 1989, President Bush appointed Ney US Ambassador to Canada. He served until July 1992, during which time he played a key role in efforts to expand the US-Canada Free Trade Agreement to include Mexico. Prior to his diplomatic service, Ney was for many years chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Young & Rubicam, Inc., one of the world’s largest advertising companies.

Paul W. Noglows

He also introduces investment banking opportunities to the firm and, in some cases, executes the same. He is also currently an active limited partner in a number of innovative start-ups.

Katherine Oliver

Katherine Oliver is the commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, which consists of the Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting; NYC Media; and the Office of Digital Coordination. Commissioner Oliver was appointed commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting on August 1, 2002, and has been the president of NYC Media since April 2009. She has also worked to diversify the city’s entertainment industry through career panels, educational initiatives and community outreach.

Bruce L. Paisner

Bill Paley is president of 2023 LLC, an investment management firm specializing in real estate and emerging technologies. From 1980 to 1984, Paley was president of his own electronic media consulting firm, Paley Communications, which helped develop political applications for the World Wide Web. He is a director of the William S. Paley Foundation and the president of the William C. Paley Foundation. He is also a trustee of The Paley Center for Media. Paley is the son of William S. Paley, founder of CBS.

Marty Pompadur has over fifty years of media industry experience in the publishing, broadcasting, music publishing, and Internet sectors. He joined Macquarie in April 2010. Previously he was the chairman of News Corp Europe from 2000 to 2008. He was chairman and chief executive officer of RP companies’ various private and public limited partnerships, which operated twelve television stations, twenty-five radio stations, numerous cable television systems, a business magazine publishing company, and other media assets from 1982 to 2007. Pompadur is an investor in Seatwave, a London based ticket reseller, and a board member of Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc.

Before joining the venture capital industry, he held senior management positions in marketing and product management with SupplyWorks and NetMarket, the e-commerce pioneer now owned by Cendant Corp. He is a director of Data Robotics, Electric Cloud, Hot Potato, Liquid Machines, Peek, and Skyhook Wireless and a former director of Frictionless Commerce (acquired by SAP) and Tacit Networks (acquired by PKTR). Marvin Putnam is a partner in O’Melveny’s Century City office, a member of the business trial and litigation practice, and the hiring partner for the Century City office. Putnam has represented clients in numerous industries on a range of issues in trial and appellate courts, both federal and state, throughout the country. A principal focus of his work is the representation of the media in defense of their first amendment rights. In this capacity, he has handled numerous defamation actions ranging from the answer to the appellate stages.
