The Museum of Television & Radio Receives Donation of the Entire Frasier Series From Paramount Network Television

New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA—The Museum of Television & Radio received a generous donation today from Paramount Network Television of all 264 episodes of the Emmy Award–winning Frasier. The donation was made the week of the series' final episode at a luncheon at the Museum's New York location honoring the cast and executive producers. Those in attendance included Kelsey Grammer, David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peter Casey, Joe Keenan, and Christopher Lloyd.
In accepting this donation, Stuart N. Brotman, president of The Museum of Television & Radio, stated, "Frasier is undeniably one of the most successful television sequels of all time and the Museum is pleased to accept this important donation from Paramount Television and Grub Street Productions into our collection. We congratulate the entire cast, writers, directors, producers, and all those involved with this outstanding series, on eleven years of creating great and memorable television."
Frasier debuted on NBC in 1993 with Kelsey Grammer reprising the role of Frasier Crane from the hit comedy series Cheers. The show immediately garnered critical and audience acclaim, winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series that year.
In 1998, Frasier became the first comedy or drama series to win five consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Series, surpassing four-time winners All in the Family, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Cheers, and Hill Street Blues. Frasier has won thirty-one Emmys, more than any other show in television history. The final episode will air on Thursday, May 13, 2004, from 9:00 to 10:00 PM (ET/PT) on NBC-TV.
The Museum of Television & Radio, with locations in New York and Los Angeles, was founded by William S. Paley to collect and preserve television and radio programs and advertisements and to make them available to the public. Since opening in 1976, the Museum has organized exhibitions, screening and listening series, seminars, and education classes to showcase its preeminent collection of over 100,000 television and radio programs and advertisements. The Museum of Television & Radio in New York, located at 25 West 52 Street in Manhattan, is open Tuesdays through Sundays from noon to 6:00 p.m. and until 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays. The Museum of Television & Radio in California, located at 465 North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills, is open Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 5:00 p.m. Both Museums are closed on New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Suggested contribution: Members free; $10.00 for adults; $8.00 for senior citizens and students; and $5.00 for children under fourteen. Admission is free in Los Angeles. The public areas in both Museums are accessible to wheelchairs, and assisted listening devices are available. Programs are subject to change.
