The Paley Center’s Tribute to Hispanic Achievements in Television, presented by JPMorgan Chase & Co., will highlight memorable and groundbreaking shows in Hispanic television. The celebration will acknowledge the contributions and showcase the evolution of portrayals by innovators and iconic stars across generations as well as the many producers, writers, and directors who were creative visionaries. Lucie Arnaz will join the Paley Center as it pays tribute to her father, Desi Arnaz, a pioneer in the history of television, as a feature of the evening’s program. The special moment will spotlight how Mr. Arnaz broke barriers in the television industry through the creation of the first independent production company owned by a Latino, as well as other breakthroughs throughout his career including the invention of the multi-camera setup.

In continuance of the Paley Center’s commitment to diversity in its programming, this Tribute will also mark the launch of the Hispanic Collection in the Paley Archive, the nation’s largest publicly accessible archive of television and radio programming. In 2015, Paley launched a Spanish-language initiative with a series of events and programs, including a salute to “Don Francisco,” host and creator of the longest–running variety show in television history – Univision’s Sábado Gigante, and an evening dedicated to Spanish-language television for the first time at the annual PaleyFest Fall TV Previews festival, among other events. Furthermore, the Paley Center’s board of trustees continues to grow and diversify with the recent addition of Grupo Televisa S.A.B., which joins other Paley Center board members and industry leaders such as Cisneros, NBCUniversal/Telemundo, PRISA, and Univision Communications Inc.

“The Paley Center for Media is incredibly proud to honor, celebrate, and pay tribute to the Hispanic community’s extraordinary television achievements and important cultural impact,” said Maureen J. Reidy, President & CEO of The Paley Center for Media. “With its vast Paley Archive television collection, the Paley Center is in an unmatched position to tell this story. With an incredible lineup of A-list celebrity presenters and guests, the buzz and excitement around this Tribute is unlike anything we’ve seen before, and has quickly become the can’t-miss event of the spring.”

“JPMorgan Chase is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Paley Center’s Tribute, and to be helping advance opportunity for Hispanics around the world,” said Karen Keogh, Head of Global Philanthropy, JPMorgan Chase & Co. “The Paley Center’s work highlights the remarkable achievements of Hispanics in television and inspires future generations of storytellers.”

“Verizon and our employees proudly support the Paley Center’s tribute to Hispanics in television," said Diego Scotti, Chief Marketing Officer of Verizon. “Right in front of us, the TV and media landscape is undergoing massive change, and Hispanics are harnessing these new outlets to tell stories that matter. In entertainment, in sports, in reporting – both in front of the camera and behind it – Verizon celebrates the Hispanic pioneers who led the way as we welcome the new voices of the future.”

Tribute Host Committee supporters include: ESPN, Inc., Mel and Terry Karmazin, The Loreen Arbus Foundation, National Basketball Association, and SESAC. Patrons and Supporters include: Accenture, Cisneros, Creative Artists Agency, Deloitte, Discovery Communications, El Rey Network, Joan Ganz Cooney, HBO, Interpublic Group, ION Media Networks, Major League Baseball, Mutual of America, NHL Foundation, Nielsen, Publicis Worldwide, Sony Pictures Television, and Tishman Speyer.

These programs continue to increase the public’s understanding of media and its significance in today’s society through public, industry, international, and education programs for students, teachers, and the general public.
