The Paley Center for Media Announces New Los Angeles Series PaleyAfterDark

Los Angeles, CA—The Paley Center for Media (formerly The Museum of Television & Radio) announces the launch of a dynamic new membership group, PaleyAfterDark. This new program will offer members the opportunity to meet media thought leaders, stars, and creators at intimate and elegant private receptions around a series of exclusive events. The inaugural PaleyAfterDark season will celebrate luminaries from the world of music through a series of four lavish programs showcasing each artist in concert and conversation. These multimedia events will be illuminated with rare footage of each artist from the Paley Center's vast media archive. Private receptions with the artists will precede each program.
Kicking off the series in Los Angeles on October 3 will be acclaimed multimedia musician/composer Peter Buffett with special guest Warren Buffett. The award-winning songwriting duo Alan and Marilyn Bergman stop by on November 3 to share anecdotes from their storied 50-year personal and musical partnership interspersed with performances from the legendary Bergman songbook. On January 26, 2009, Broadway composer Charles Strouse and guests will offer a rare evening of story and song as his latest musical Minsky's makes its theatrical debut in Los Angeles that month. Later in the spring on April 7, the Paley Center celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the most successful album in jazz, Time Out, and the virtuoso genius behind the masterpiece, Dave Brubeck.
"Where in Los Angeles can you be entertained by Frank, Ella, Fred, Barbra, and other icons on screen while enjoying live performances by the Bergmans, Buffett, Strouse, and Brubeck? Only here at the Paley Center," remarked Pat Mitchell, the president and chief executive officer of The Paley Center for Media. "We are excited to launch PaleyAfterDark, a new unique series for the Los Angeles cultural scene this season as we turn our lens to the art and artistry of these extraordinary musicians."

The Paley Center salutes the historic release of Time Out, a seminal jazz masterpiece released fifty years ago and the man behind the album, Dave Brubeck. Highlighting his legendary career, Dave Brubeck will be joined by special guests and the Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet.
