BOBBY'S WORLD: I WANT MY MOMMY (TV)

Summary

One in this series of animated children's programs created and hosted by comedian Howie Mandel. The program is based on a character that Mandel performs in his stand-up comedy act: a little boy named Bobby Generic, who has a wild imagination, a sharp sense of humor, a family, and a sheepdog named Roger. In this episode, on Mother's Day, Bobby attempts to make breakfast in bed for his mother, but his sister scolds him, saying that they are taking her out instead. His siblings continue teasing him, despite his warnings that they "wouldn't like him when he's angry," and when his uncle arrives and explains the concept of adoption, Bobby ponders finding a new family of his own where he is more appreciated. The family travels to Magic Land theme park for the holiday, and Bobby goes on a "family values" ride into the world of classic television, imagining himself starring in such shows as "Leave It to Bobby," "Mommy Brown" and a version of "The Coneheads." When he emerges, he decides that he does not want a new family after all, but then realizes that he has been separated from his relatives and is lost. The security guards take him to the "lost kids' pen," where he meets up with a few other disgruntled youngsters, all of whom feel underappreciated by their mothers. Bobby considers the horror of a world without mothers and is relieved when his parents come to claim him. They come across a "best mom" contest in the park, and Bobby gets on stage to explain why his mother deserves the award, though he inadvertently reveals a number of awkward family secrets in the process. In the car on the way home, everyone is annoyed and Bobby apologizes for causing trouble, but his mother gives a rousing speech about the rewarding challenges and imperfections of motherhood, and everyone is suitably impressed. She assures them that it was the "most wonderful Mother's Day ever," and Bobby begins pondering his plans for Father's Day. Commercials deleted.
