DAMAGES: DO YOU REGRET WHAT WE DID? (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic suspense series about the relationships and battles between several high-powered and ruthless New York lawyers. In this episode, Greg pleads with a frightened Katie to hear him out as Moore tells Ellen and Tom about the difficulty of legally proving Frobisher's wrongdoing. David uncomfortably dodges Lila DiMeo's aggressive flirtation, and Moore firmly tells Fiske that he's planning to "put an end to this thing" with Frobisher. Having returned to the U.S., Frobisher meets with expert trial advisor Nancy, who teaches him the ins and outs of appearing both "heartfelt" and intimidating while lying on the stand, and Moore meets privately with Ellen, explaining that he can't go public with his knowledge of Frobisher's past, but urging her to look into a certain event in Arlington in 1983. Ellen tells Patty and Tom about Moore's advice, and they discover that Frobisher was involved in the vehicular death of a young Virginia woman, Cindy Lambert, and has likely been paying off the family for their silence ever since.
Katie very reluctantly sits down with Greg, who explains how they were both manipulated and put into danger by Fiske and his client, Frobisher. Lila finds Ellen and announces that she's been having an affair with David, and though Ellen immediately has her tossed from the office, she later demands answers from David, who swears that he merely knew her through his work and had no romantic entanglement with her whatsoever. Moore informs Fiske that Patty now knows about the Arlington scandal, and though Ellen is doubtful about Moore's true motives in giving them such a useful tip, Patty decides to move ahead in investigating Frobisher's secret payments to the Lambert family. Katie, unmoved by Greg's apparent honesty, informs him that he "ruined her life," and Greg places a call to Fiske, reminding him that it's "not too late to change." Later, he videotapes his full confession, aware that he may not get the chance to come clean in person.
Patty urges Ellen to take a weekend off with David and use the beach house – and in the present, an imprisoned Ellen tells Tom to check the beach house for the still-missing Patty. In the past, Ellen's worries are seemingly mollified when a background check reveals that Lila has a history of stalking and delusional claims, and Katie awakens to find that Greg has vanished and left her a check for $128,000 – and several blocks away, he is struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on what seem to be Moore's orders. Frobisher is furious to learn that his enemies know about his 25-year-old secret, and Patty gives a speech at the Blind Justice Project gala, after which she calmly informs Frobisher that she "wants him disgraced" in every way possible. In the present, Tom reaches the beach house and finds it empty, while elsewhere a deeply distraught Patty exits New York state. Commercials deleted.
