PARKERS, THE: QUARANTINE (TV)

Summary

One in this comedy series about a mother and daughter attending college together.

Nikki and Kim prepare for a vacation to Mexico, and Professor Oglevee asks Nikki to pick up some Cuban cigars for him while they’re there. However, they return only two days later after having been expelled from Mexico, and they argue bitterly about who is to blame for their early departure. Professor Oglevee comes to visit them to pick up his cigars, but changes his mind when Nikki tries to get him to retrieve them from between her bosoms. A man in a hazmat suit arrives at the door, explaining that they may have been exposed to a deadly airborne disease and that they will have to be quarantined for 72 hours to prevent it from spreading. Professor Oglevee is forced to remain there for the duration as well. They all try to leave but are coerced back inside by the presence of helicopters and snipers outside of the house. They become convinced that at least one of them will perish from the disease, but Nikki takes the opportunity to tell Professor Oglevee the reason why they had to leave Mexico: she claims that she stopped in a bar with a local minister for a moment and witnessed Kim performing a table dance in front of a soccer team. In her story she portrays herself as kind and demure, while Kim is characterized as being disrespectful, lewd, and drinking heavily. A fight breaks out over Kim between two bar patrons, soon escalating into a large bar fight. Nikki attempts to rescue Kim and guide her out of the bar before the police apprehend them, thus sending them out of the country.

Kim protests Nikki’s recollection of the events in question, telling her own version of what happened. In her version she is charitable and capable, coaching the soccer team (here entirely comprised of dwarves) to victory after repairing their bus. Nikki, meanwhile, performs a somewhat inappropriate salsa dance, and yells at Kim to return to their room. The soccer team takes offense at this and Nikki picks a fight with one of them, and according to Kim this is what leads to their eventual deportation. Professor Oglevee believes that he is coming down with the symptoms of the fatal disease, but his girlfriend Veronica arrives, believing that he concocted the “quarantine” excuse to get out of their date that night. Nikki gets into an argument with Veronica and Kim steps in to defend Nikki when Veronica insults her personally. Veronica does not believe them and tries to leave, but changes her mind when she spots the helicopters. She realizes that Professor Oglevee told the truth and apologizes; Nikki thanks Kim for standing up for her and they reconcile their differences about their argument. The doctor from earlier re-enters the house to inform them that he was mistaken in his diagnosis and that they are all in perfect health, ending the quarantine. Commercials deleted.
