A-TEAM, THE: BELLS OF ST. MARY (TV)
Summary
One in this action/adventure series about a quartet of soldiers of fortune on the run from the law who fight to help the weak and oppressed. Face and B.A. are coaching the football team at Face’s old high school. Seeing B.A. coach the kids greatly impresses Murdock; he suddenly falls into hero-worship of him, calling him a “molder of men.” Face discovers that Billy, the team’s quarterback, is dropping out of the upcoming big game, but refuses to say why. Suspicious, the A-Team follows Billy in their van, while they themselves are followed. Billy comes out with his sister Charlotte, whom B.A. recognizes as the lead singer of a music group called “The Bells.” The men following the A-Team attempt to capture Charlotte but the A-Team rescue her and drive off their pursuers. The remaining members of the Bells arrive and B.A. finds a tracking device on their car. The A-Team disposes of their car and finds out that the men trying to capture them were hired by their record company, Lunar Records. The Bells were unhappy with the massive cuts the company took out of their pay and refused to renew their contract with them. The Bells are performing at a charity concert that weekend and the A-Team agree to protect them. Hannibal, disguised as the Bell’s new manager, goes to see Dave Luna, the owner of Lunar Records. He submits new contracts for the Bells and claims power of attorney over them; Luna warns Hannibal not to cross him and sends his thugs after them. With B.A. and Murdock’s help, they manage to escape. The A-Team meets with the Bells; Hannibal believes Luna is only part of the equation and something bigger is at stake. That night, armed men break into the Bell’s apartment and search for them, but the A-Team has already taken the precaution of bugging the room and moving the Bells to safety. The men retreat and the A-Team follows. The A-Team finds the man that the men report to: Zeke Westerland, an eccentric billionaire. Zeke and Hannibal discuss; Zeke reveals he is the secret owner of Luna Records and has taken an interest in the Bells because he considers them part of his “collection.” He tries to bribe Hannibal to give up power of attorney over the Bells, but Hannibal refuses. When Zeke coldly declares that the Bells will never sing again, Hannibal decides to humiliate Zeke by spraying him with paint. The A-Team drives off; Hannibal reveals he wanted to anger Zeke to such an extent that he would come after the A-Team personally. The next day, at the Bell’s rehearsal, Charlotte and Hannibal receive a call from Zeke; he has kidnapped Billy and won’t give him up unless Hannibal meets him that night to dissolve the new contracts. Hannibal promises to bring Billy back safely and the A-Team mobilizes. B.A. reveals that he placed one of Zeke’s tracking devices in his car the previous night and the A-Team uses it to locate his hideout. Using a disguise from Hannibal and a nearby bulldozer, Zeke is captured and Billy saved. Billy’s team performs poorly at the big football game. Witnessing B.A.’s behavior disavows Murdock of his newfound hero-worship. Driven into frenzy, Murdock runs onto the field himself to try and score a touchdown for the team. The episode ends as B.A. chases after Murdock, upset at the interference. Commercials deleted.
