BONANZA: SPRINGTIME (TV)

Summary

One in this long-running western drama series about widower Ben Cartwright, his sons, and their adventures on their ranch in Nevada's Ponderosa. In this episode, the Cartwright brothers are restless with spring fever after the long, hard winter. Ben arrives with a cantankerous and prosperous landowner, old Jebediah, but he is dismayed to discover that the boys are engaged in a rambunctious, three-way scuffle. When Jebediah is injured in the cross fire of their exuberant brawl, the elderly man must recuperate on the Pondrosa for a while, and Ben angrily insists that the boys tend to the man's affairs. Although only mildly hurt, the crafty old Jebediah seizes upon this opportunity to take full advantage of the boys to execute his dirty work. The boys head out on their separate, onerous missions to evict various tenants from the mean-spirited Jebediah's land, and their tasks carry lessons about compassion and human nature. Once reunited, the brothers share their experiences and, although not one has executed the manipulative Jebediah's wishes, each one has settled affairs to his own satisfaction. Commercials deleted.
