I LOVE LUCY: LUCY MEETS CHARLES BOYER (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedies about the escapades of Lucy Ricardo, a zany redheaded housewife with show business aspirations, her Cuban-born bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo, and their best friends and neighbors Fred and Ethel Mertz. In this episode, a star-struck Lucy, who has had many false sightings of actor Charles Boyer all over Paris, almost doesn't believe her eyes when the real Charles Boyer sits at a cafe table across from the Ricardos and the Mertzes. Fearing Lucy's penchant for causing a scene in the presence of celebrities, Ricky suggests that the ladies freshen up their makeup before introducing themselves. In their absence, he asks Boyer to tell Lucy and Ethel that he is someone else. Lucy and Ethel approach Boyer for his autograph, only to be told that he is Maurice DuBois, an underemployed actor who is often mistaken for his more successful lookalike. When Lucy spots an announcement in the Paris Tribune of an upcoming lunch meeting between Ricky and Boyer, Ricky feigns passionate jealousy to keep her from intruding. Lucy enlists the help of "Maurice DuBois" to convince Ricky that Charles Boyer means nothing to her, and Ricky, after learning of this scheme, gets Boyer to play the role of "DuBois" as passionately as possible. Lucy is nonchalant as "DuBois" romances her in front of Ricky, but chaos ensues when his true identity is revealed. Includes commercials. Animated stick figures resembling Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz appear in commercials for Instant Sanka coffee and Golden Fluffo shortening.
