ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
The premiere of this news series featuring information and gossip about the show business industry. First, hosts Tom Hallick, Marjorie Wallace, and Ron Hendren introduce themselves. In the first segment, Hendren reports on the previous night's Emmy Awards ceremony: "Hill Street Blues" won eight Awards, and "Shogun" and "Taxi" also received multiple honors. Celebrities John Ritter, Daniel J. Travanti, Loretta Swit, Lily Tomlin, and Nancy Marchand comment on the Emmy Awards, and Emmy-nominated actor Richard Chamberlain comments on the general concept of awards ceremonies, followed by behind-the-scenes footage of ceremony preparations. Next, in part one of a week-long series on Burt Reynolds, the actor interviews pregnant women who watched a preview of his movie, "Paternity," about a man who hires a woman to have his baby. Wallace then reports on the following: legal entanglements about royalties from the film "Tarzan," starring Bo Derek; Faye Dunaway and clips of her performances in "Evita Peron" and "Mommie Dearest"; and the top five movies of the summer. Next, Hallick profiles Debbie Harry of the music group Blondie, with comments by her boyfriend Chris Stein. The final segment covers a special tribute to Lucille Ball at the Emmy Awards, with footage of the comedienne receiving an Emmy for Best Situation Comedy of 1953. The program concludes with a clip of Blondie singing "Picture This."
