HONG KONG PHOOEY: THE CLAW; HONG KONG PHOOEY VS.
HONG KONG PHOOEY (TV)

Summary

One in this series of animated programs about Penrod Pooch, a janitor in a police department who battles crime disguised as Hong Kong Phooey, a canine martial artist. In this episode, Hong Kong Phooey and his trusty feline companion, Spot, swing into action when they learn that the Claw has stolen the Raja's ruby from a museum. Figuring the evil remote-control goods-grabber will strike next at the County Museum, they go there to guard the priceless Mona Pizza, the most famous painting in the world. The crafty Claw lifts the painting right out from under Phooey, but leaves a clue which leads Phooey and Spot to the Claw's next point of attack, and ultimately to the secret lair of the wicked Claw himself. In a second segment, Penry learns that "Hong Kong Phooey" is scheduled to accept a reward that evening at City Hall. Phooey never takes reward money, so Penry knows that something is fishy. He goes to City Hall and sees a phony Phooey and substitute Spot accepting a cash reward from the mayor. The real Phooey and Spot follow the fakes to a farm and learn that the greedy hick, Farmer Phil -- and his small dog -- are disguising themselves as the crime-fighting pair in order to cash in on Phooey's daring deeds. Farmer Phil traps the pair at the farm, and when Phooey loses his special black Kung Fu book -- the source of his supernatural powers -- it may be curtains for Phooey and Spot. Commercials deleted.
