
FRANK SINATRA DUETS (TV)
Summary
This musical special features highlights of Frank Sinatra's duets with other well-known recording artists, combining the finished product with glimpses behind the scenes. The program begins with brief comments about the innovative and historical aspects of these recordings by the following: Charles Koppelman, Don Rubin, Gloria Estefan, Kenny G, Luis Miguel, Gary Gersh, Hank Cattaneo, Phil Ramone, Chuck Berghofer, Eliot Weisman, Patrick Williams, Willie Nelson, Julio Iglesias, Anita Baker, Barbara Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Jon Secada, Luther Vandross, Leroy Neiman, Quincy Jones, and Patti LaBelle. Next, Sinatra and Jon Secada perform "The Best is Yet To Come," and footage is shown of Sinatra and Dean Martin clowning around on "The Frank Sinatra Timex Show." Willie Nelson and Sinatra then croon "A Foggy Day in London Town." In a series of clips from his television duet work, Sinatra is featured with Milton Berle in "Texaco Star Theater," Perry Como in "The White House," Peggy Lee and Elvis Presley in "The Frank Sinatra Timex Show," Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in "Life Goes to War," and Nancy Sinatra in "The Man & His Music, Pt. 2." Sinatra's recording sessions of duets continue with "Witchcraft" featuring Anita Baker and "I've Got You Under My Skin" with Bono. The next segment showcases Sinatra in duets from the following movies: "Can Can" with Shirley Maclaine, "Young at Heart" with Doris Day, " A Hole in the Head" with Eddie Hodges, "High Society" with Bing Crosby, "Robin & the Seven Hoods" with Bing Crosby and Dean Martin, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" with Gene Kelly, and "It Happened in Brooklyn" with Jimmy Durante. Next, Sinatra continues his more recent duets with Neil Diamond in "The House I Live In," Charles Aznavour in "You Make Me Feel So Young," Gloria Estefan in "Come Rain or Come Shine," and Aretha Franklin in "What Now My Love." Following a brief pairing with Dinah Shore on "The Dinah Shore Show," Sinatra continues in recording sessions with Luis Miguel in "Come Fly with Me"; Luther Vandross in "The Lady Is a Tramp"; Frank Sinatra, Jr., in "My Kind of Town"; Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme in "Where or When"; and Kenny G in "One for My Baby." The program ends with a segment in which Sinatra performs with Jimmy Durante on "The Colgate Comedy Hour" and with a final recording session of "Bewitched" with Patti LaBelle. Commercials deleted.
