BARNEY & FRIENDS {BARNEY AND FRIENDS}: MY FAMILY'S JUST RIGHT FOR ME (TV)
Summary
One in this series of musical children's programs featuring a magical, purple dinosaur named Barney. In this program, the children plan a show for family night. As the program begins, the children play jump rope and sing about family members. Barney arrives and learns that the children are assembling a list of songs for a show about families. First, the children perform "Family in the Dell" and show Barney the pictures they drew of their families, except for Kathy, who has not made one yet. Barney draws a picture of the children since they are like family to him, and they are surprised when he draws a heart with the word "love" inside: Barney explains that love is what makes a family. The children add the song, "I Love You," to their show and practice singing "Bingo." Everyone takes Barney to the science center, except Kathy, who stays behind to look at the children's pictures, and feels sad that the kids have mommys, daddys, and siblings, when she only has her mother and nana. Then Baby Bop appears and helps Kathy sing her teddy bear to sleep with "Rock-a-Bye Baby." Next, the children share activities they do with their families. After the children sing about riding in the car, Lucy and Tina sing about being sisters and everybody practices singing about grandparents. Everyone except Kathy performs a song, "Where Is Family?" and then Kathy explains she has no special song for the show since her family is small. Barney explains that the size of a family is unimportant and reads a book about animals, and then the children sing about different types of families. Then, Barney, Baby Bop, and Kathy sing "I Love You." As the program concludes, Barney reviews the topics covered.
