ROSEANNE: INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT {SERIES FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The final episode in this comedy series about Roseanne and Dan Conner, a working-class couple who live in Lanford, Illinois, and their three kids, D.J., Darlene, and Becky. In this episode, Darlene and David bring their baby home from the hospital and move back into the Conners' household. Roseanne and Darlene are both thrilled with the new living arrangement, but are unable to express their feelings to one another. As family and friends congregate to celebrate, they learn that Scott and Leon are planning to adopt a child, and Becky and Mark announce they are expecting a baby. Roseanne reflects on motherhood as she speaks with Darlene and D.J., and recalls, in a flashback to an early episode, how Dan and the kids presented her with her own private writing space. During a large meal with family and friends, Roseanne, in a voice-over, starts describing how she fictionalized each friend and family member in the story of her life. Roseanne explains that, due to a tragedy one year earlier, she rewrote events in her life during the past year: she imagined that Dan had been unfaithful and that she had won millions in the lottery. As the episode concludes, an impoverished Roseanne sits at her writing desk, having finished her manuscript, and reflects on important lessons she has learned from her family and life stories. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements.
