HALLOWEENTOWN (TV)
Summary
This made-for-TV movie follows the Piper children as they discover that their ancestral roots can be traced to a mystical world called Halloweentown.
Thirteen-year-old Marnie Piper is upset that her mother, Gwen, will not allow Marnie and her siblings Dylan and Sophie to go out trick or treating on Halloween. Gwen makes vague and elliptical statements about the family's strange and dangerous connection to the holiday, but Marnie has no idea what her mother is talking about. When Grandmother Aggie comes to visit out of the blue, Marnie grills her about the family's connection to Halloween. Aggie suggests that Marnie will find out when she is older, but Marnie impatiently follows Aggie when she leaves shortly thereafter.
Marnie realizes that her brother and sister have followed Aggie as well when she hops on the bus that her grandmother has boarded, but it is too late: The bus has left the station. Before Marnie realizes what is happening, the bus takes flight and travels at light speed to Halloweentown, where all of the citizens are some type of ghoul or goblin. The kids walk around, amazed, until they find their grandmother, who explains that both she and their mother were born witches in Halloweentown. Marnie's father was from the United States, and no one thought that Marnie would inherit her mother's talent for magic and spells -- but Marnie has, in fact, started showing signs of being a witch.
Marnie is thrilled at the news, and Aggie takes her shopping for her first magic broom. As the kids stroll through downtown with Aggie, Gwen realizes that she must travel to her old home to find her missing children and keep Marnie away from the occult lifestyle. Commercials deleted.
