Summary
The premiere of this educational children's series that teaches numbers and the alphabet, along with social and cultural concepts, to pre-schoolers. Set on the fanciful urban block of Sesame Street, the series features Jim Henson's live-action Muppets, animation, short films, and a cast of adults and children. This program introduces some of the adult characters featured on the series -- Gordon, Susan, Bob and Mr. Hooper -- as well as the Muppet characters Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, Oscar the Grouch, Kermit the Frog, and Cookie Monster. Highlights of the program include the following: a segment about the concept of "clean," in which Ernie leads a washing song; a short film that investigates the source of milk by visiting a dairy farm; a brief guest appearance by Carol Burnett; and Kermit with a presentation on the letter W. Featured letters and numbers are W, S, E, 2, and 3.
