LIVE with Regis & Kathie Lee
Step into the cohost chairs and imagine hosting one of the nation’s favorite morning shows.
Live with Regis & Kathie Lee helped to redefine the morning talk-show format and left a lasting impact on daytime television. The show’s success came largely from the natural chemistry between hosts Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford. Their banter, personal stories, and humor made viewers feel like they were part of a casual conversation. Regis and Kathie Lee spoke openly about their families, daily lives, and even personal struggles. This informality broke down barriers between hosts and viewers, creating a sense of intimacy that kept audiences tuning in daily. Running for twelve years, Live with Regis & Kathie Lee became a cultural touchstone of the 1990s morning television landscape.
Head carpenter Bobby Orsillo worked on the entire run of Live with Regis & Kathie Lee (1988–2000), beginning when the show was titled The Morning Show in 1985. He became a good friend of the cohosts, appearing on the program many times. Knowing the historical importance of the show, he has been preserving this Live set from the 1990s in his garage, featuring the chairs where Regis and Kathie Lee welcomed thousands of celebrities, including Celine Dion, Dolly Parton, and Carol Burnett. Bobby is now pleased to share his cherished artifacts with the Paley audience.
ESPN’s SportsCenter
Call the plays and deliver sports highlights from the ESPN anchor desk.
SportsCenter is ESPN’s award-winning flagship news and information program. When ESPN debuted on September 7, 1979, it was the very first program to air on the network. Nearly fifty years later, SportsCenter remains one of ESPN’s most identifiable brands, and is a daily source of news, highlights, interviews, and information for sports fans on television, across the ESPN app, and more.
During the summer of 2025, ESPN brought the popular show on the road from coast-to-coast for SportsCenter’s 50 States in 50 Days, a seven-week fifty-state tour that looked ahead to ESPN’s direct to consumer launch and celebrated the full spectrum of American sports fandom from the backyard to the big leagues.
This “bistro” desk is one of several styles of desk that ESPN travels to major sports events throughout the year for SportsCenter and other studio coverage. In addition to ESPN’s 50 States in 50 Days initiative this summer, SportsCenter has recently travelled to the 2025 NFL Kickoff game, US Open tennis, UFC and WWE events, and more.
The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson
Sit behind Johnny’s legendary desk, complete with backdrop and props.
“Heeere’s Johnny!”
Many influential figures have hosted talk and variety shows over the years, but there was only one King of Late Night: Johnny Carson. For thirty years, he reigned over not just the late-night daypart, but all of Hollywood as host of The Tonight Show. From 1962 until his retirement in 1992, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson was the most coveted TV destination for Hollywood’s biggest stars and musicians, and up-and-coming talent knew they hadn’t officially arrived in showbiz until they were invited to sit next to Johnny on The Tonight Show set.
The Paley Museum is honored to display the complete The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson set—one of the most iconic sets in TV history—which was used during the final decade of its renowned run. Generously donated by the family of the esteemed late TV collector Dr. Stewart Berkowitz, the set celebrates one of the most influential and beloved television programs of all time—and honors a one-of-a-kind media legend.
