Steve O’Donnell is one of television’s most accomplished comedy writers, with credits that include David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, Bonnie Hunt, Dana Carvey, Norm Macdonald, and Chris Rock. As head writer of Late Night with David Letterman on NBC, O’Donnell and his team helped redefine late-night comedy, creating the iconic Top Ten List and a memorable collection of irreverent, subversive sketches.

O’Donnell’s television career began at the Museum of Broadcasting, making his return to The Paley Museum especially meaningful. In conversation with curator Ron Simon, he will look back on his remarkable career, screen highlights from his work, and explore how television comedy has evolved—and what makes great comedy endure.

And to put everyone in the holiday spirit, this event will include clips from the legendary Christmas with the Lettermans.
