Marc Brodherson is a Principal with McKinsey & Company’s New York office and a leader of the Technology, Media and Telecom practice.  Since joining the firm in 2006, Marc has advised media, information and business services companies on strategy and operations.  He serves companies and investors across the print, radio and television advertising ecosystems, including inventory owners, sellers, and technology, service and data intermediaries.  Prior to joining McKinsey, Marc was a creative executive at Emerging Pictures, focused on development, production and distribution of digital documentaries, features, and marketing content.  Marc received an A.B. in History, summa cum laude, from Princeton University in 2000 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, in 2006.

Frank Cooper III
Chief Marketing and Creative Officer, BuzzFeed

Frank Cooper III is Chief Marketing and Creative Officer at BuzzFeed where he is charged with defining a new content creation and distribution for brands, as well as leading BuzzFeed’s marketing, creative services and research & insights departments. Acknowledged by Fast Company magazine as one of the "100 Most Creative People in Business" and a four times recipient of Billboard magazine’s "Power 100,” Cooper is widely recognized as one of the leading progressive brand marketers in the world. His career ranges from serving as a senior executive at iconic music labels -- Motown and Def Jam -- to working as an entrepreneur and executive in the digital space, to serving as Chief Marketing Officer of  Global Consumer Engagement for PepsiCo's Global Beverage Group.  Cooper’s work spans television (“Next Great Game Gods”), short-form video (“Beats of the Beautiful Game”), and music (Green Label Sound, Beyonce partnership, etc.)  He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and is the former chairman of the American Advertising Federation.

Rich is Managing Director, Media and Technology analyst at BTIG and is the co-creator of the BTIG Research blog (www.btigresearch.com).  Prior to BTIG, Mr. Greenfield was a managing director, media analyst, covering media and cable/satellite industries at Pali Capital.   Prior to that, he spent four years at Fulcrum Global Partners as a media analyst.   Greenfield started his career at Goldman Sachs & Co. in 1995, where he spent eight years covering entertainment, cable system and leisure industries.  Greenfield is an active angel investor focused on the convergence of media, communications and commerce. Greenfield loves meeting new start-ups, demo'ing new technologies and trying to figure out the future.  Greenfield has been a New Yorker his entire life, with a stop in Boston to attend Brandeis. 

 

Jack Myers

Jack is a cultural, economic and technology visionary, award-winning documentary film producer and author. Jack is chairman and media ecologist at MyersBizNet, the home of MediaVillage.com -- the most extensive business-to-business content and relationship network serving the marketing, advertising, media and entertainment communities. MediaVillage includes the MediaBizBloggers native content thought leadership platform; WomenAdvancing, an all-women’s dual-mentoring support group; 1stFive.com, a diversity outreach program; MediaLegends; Wall St. Speaks Out; Planet Ed and Lunch at Michael’s. Jack is the author of four books including Reconnecting with Customers: Building Brands and Profits in The Relationship Age and Hooked Up Generation, winner of the International Book Award on Youth Issues. Jack’s next book, due in early 2015, focuses on The Future of Men: Masculinity in the Twenty-First Century.

Jack is the recipient of the George Foster Peabody Award, won the Crystal Heart Award from the Heartland Film Festival, and has been nominated for both an Academy and Emmy Award for Best Documentary Feature. He has been presented a World Music Award and co-produced the GE Focus Forward Films documentary series with Morgan Spurlock’s cinelan group, in which he is a partner.

Jack’s career includes sales and management positions at CBS, ABC and Metromedia. He is Chairman of the Board of International Radio and Television Society (IRTS), a Board Member of the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University, and served on the Advisory Board for the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development at New York University where he studied Media Ecology with Dr. Neil Postman. He is also a board member of the TD Foundation, serving the veteran families impacted by the conflicts in Afghanistan and the Mideast, and of the John A. Reisenbach Foundation, which supports safety in New York City.

Chris Pantoya
Senior Vice President, Mobile Strategy, National Basketball Association

Session: 40/40 - Going All in on Mobile

As Senior Vice President, Mobile Strategy at the National Basketball Association, Christine Pantoya is responsible for expanding the NBA's mobile strategy in the U.S. and abroad, including the development of the league's over-the-top and other mobile offerings.

Before joining the NBA in January 2015, Pantoya served as Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development at Verizon Communications. At Verizon, Pantoya was responsible for developing strategic growth initiatives and multibillion-dollar revenue stream models across various growth areas, including media and entertainment, advertising, games, telematics and mCommerce. Prior to her time at Verizon, Pantoya was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Cox Communications, where she helped the cable company prepare for increased competition, with a focus on customer retention programs, value-added selling and centralization of key functions. During her career, Pantoya has helped launch sales channels for several startup wireless providers and was instrumental in integrating various systems and processes during the merger between Nextel and Sprint.

Pantoya earned her MBA, with a focus on marketing, from Old Dominion University's Strome College of Business. She holds a bachelor's degree in Spanish from the university and remains active in the ODU community, serving as an advisory board member for the MBA program and as a mentor to current students. In addition to her work at the school, Pantoya lends time to select Girls in STEM opportunities. Pantoya resides in Summit, N.J., with her husband Steven and son Jacob.

Nancy Peretsman
Managing Director, Allen & Company

Nancy Peretsman, Managing Director at Allen & Company LLC, has served as an advisor to many of the world’s largest media, communications and consumer companies. Her most recent notable transactions include - the representation of AOL in its $4.4 billion sale to Verizon, Time Warner Cable in its pending $79 billion sale to Charter Communications, and the sale of The Washington Post newspaper to Jeff Bezos.   
 
Since joining Allen & Co. in 1995, Nancy has provided advice and capital to over one hundred high growth businesses, ranging from Magic Leap to Facebook.  She was also an original investor in Priceline, on whose board she continues to serve. Prior to Allen & Company, Nancy was Managing Director at Salomon Brothers, heading the worldwide media investment banking practice.
 
Nancy currently serves as a Trustee of The Institute for Advanced Study and as a Board member of Teach for America. Mostly recently, she retired from Princeton University’s Board of Trustees where she served for 24 years. Nancy received an undergraduate degree with honors from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School in 1976 and earned an MBA from the Yale School of Management in 1979.  Over the last decade, Fortune has named her among the Most Powerful Women in Business.

Mark Robichaux
Editorial Director, Television Group, NewBay Media

Mark Robichaux is Editorial Director of NewBay Media’s TV Group in New York, which includes Multichannel News, Broadcasting & Cable, NextTV and Ratings Intelligence. Prior to his current position, he was Editor-in-Chief of both Multichannel News and sister publication Broadcasting & Cable. He was a staff reporter for the Wall Street Journal for 13 years, writing for Page One, as well as covering small business and the cable-TV industry. He is author of critically acclaimed “Cable Cowboy”, a biography of cable pioneer John Malone. He worked as a staff reporter at the Miami Herald upon graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Stephanie Ruhle

Stephanie Ruhle anchors Bloomberg Television’s new morning program, Bloomberg , airing weekdays from 7-10 am ET.

Ruhle regularly interviews industry titans such as Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein, hedge fund managers David Tepper and Stanley Druckenmiller, NBA star Kobe Bryant, former Vice President Al Gore and music moguls Sean "Diddy" Combs and Kanye West.

Prior to joining Bloomberg, Ruhle served as a Managing Director in Global Markets Senior Relationship Management at Deutsche Bank. There, she oversaw relationships for some of Deutsche Bank's largest hedge fund clients. Ruhle began her career at Credit Suisse, where she was the highest producing credit derivatives salesperson in the U.S. Ruhle plays an active role in women's leadership and business leader development. She founded the Corporate Investment Bank (CIB) Women's Network and co-chaired the Women on Wall Street (WOWS) steering committee. Ruhle is also a member of the board of trustees for Girls Inc. NYC and formerly served on the corporate councils of I-Mentor and The White House Project, a non-profit organization working to advance women in business, government and media. She currently serves on the board and advises for "React To Film," an issue-based documentary film series.

Ruhle earned her bachelor's degree in International Business from Lehigh University. Under her major, she studied in Guatemala, Italy and Kenya.

Cristiana Falcone
Senior Adviser to the Founder and Executive Chairman, World Economic Forum

Session: 2020 Vision

Cristiana Falcone Sorrell has over 17 years of international career experience working in strategy and business development for global corporations (SONY, Shell), international governmental organizations (ILO, IFAD, FAO, UNDCCP, IADB) and the media (RAI, Gruppo Espresso, World Economic Forum Media, Entertainment, Information and Sports Industries, Univision).

She currently advises the Executive Chairman and Founder of the World Economic Forum on new initiatives and special projects. Prior to her current role, she focused on strategic outreach. Cristiana joined the Forum in 2004 to lead the Media, Entertainment and Information Industries. In this capacity, she built and managed relationships with industry leaders, policy makers, experts and academics worldwide. She also designed and developed specific industry projects (scenarios on the future of the digital ecosystem, a raw case study on media opportunities in fast growing markets and the future of networked journalism) and represented the Forum at conferences and gatherings including the Annual Meeting in Davos.

Cristiana’s recent advisory work included forging strategic alliances with various stakeholders interested in Latin America's economic and social development working directly with the President of the Inter-American Development Bank.

She is a member of the board of Viacom, Revlon, Internews, The Paley Center for Media, The School of Nutrition and the Feinstein Center for Humanitarian Affairs at Tufts University.  She is a member of the Italian National Journalists' Guild and the Women In Leadership network.

As the CEO of the JMCMRJ Sorrells' charitable foundation, Cristiana leads its efforts in supporting education and health projects worldwide.

Ms Falcone graduated from the University of Rome La Sapienza in Political Science and earned her Master’s Degree in Humanitarian Assistance from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy with a thesis on the role of media in complex emergencies. She holds a Master's in Diplomatic Studies from the Italian Society for International Organization and the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs Diplomatic Academy and several post graduate certificates in leadership, corporate strategy and management.

She is the recipient of the 2012 Poder Award in leadership, the 2014 honouree of La Scuola Italiana Guglielmo Marconi, and the 2015 commencement speaker for the Tufts School of Nutrition. 

Lawrence Shire

Lawrence Shire is the head of the Motion Picture, Television, Theatre, Publishing, New Media and Sports practice group at the New York entertainment law firm Grubman Shire & Meiselas, P.C.  With 33 attorneys, it is the largest transactional entertainment/media firm in the country.

Larry began his career in private practice at the New York law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.  He joined Grubman Shire & Meiselas, P.C. in 1991 to help lead the firm’s growth and expansion from the music business into all other areas of the transactional entertainment, media and sports business.

Hannah Storm
SportsCenter Host, ESPN

Hannah Storm, ESPN’s SportsCenter host, is an award-winning producer, director, trailblazing journalist and author; a pioneer in the field of broadcasting for women, Storm founded Brainstormin’ Productions and The Hannah Storm Foundation in 2008.

At ESPN, Storm hosts the weekday edition of ESPN’s SportsCenter, and during the NFL season, she hosts the Sunday edition of SportsCenter, leading into ESPN’s NFL coverage. Storm is also an ABC 20/20 contributor, the host of ESPN’s interview series, Face to Face with Hannah Storm, and co-hosts many of the network’s marquee events, including: the NBA Finals, the U.S. Open, Wimbledon, Veteran’s Day, the ESPY Awards, the Rose Parade and the Super Bowl. Storm made history as the first female host of CNN Sports Tonight and the first woman in American television history to solo host a broadcast network’s sports series during her time covering NBC’s Major League Baseball. At NBC Sports, Storm hosted the “NBA on NBC” and four Olympic Games.  Storm came to ESPN from CBS News after five years hosting “The Early Show,” covering numerous major news events including the Iraq war, Hurricane Katrina, Super Bowls XLI and XXXVIII, the 2004 Democratic National Convention, the Presidential campaigns of 2004 and 2008, and the London terror bombings.

Expanding to the film industry in 2008, Storm founded Brainstormin’ Productions, and has producers and directed five films including; "Shaq & Dale" (SEC Network, ESPN, ABC), "Love & Payne" (ESPNW, Espn), “Swoopes” (ESPN’s Nine for IX series), "Moving the Goal,” (ESPNW Heroics Series) and one of the original Peabody award winning "30 for 30" films, "Unmatched" (ESPN, ABC).  Storm has also produced and directed Branded Content series for Procter and Gamble, Oakley, Under Armour, Ford, and Speedstick, which have appeared on ESPNW, ESPN.com and ESPN.  For her work on “Unmatched,” Storm received the 2011 Gracie Award for Outstanding Producer-News/Non-fiction. Storm also won a Gracie award for her digital series "Journeys and Victories."
 
Storm founded the Hannah Storm Foundation to raise awareness, fund treatment and provide educational information for children suffering from debilitating and disfiguring vascular birthmarks and The Foundation also funds the Hannah Storm Journalism Internship at Notre Dame.

Storm is the author of two books: “Notre Dame Inspirations” and “Go Girl!: Raising Healthy, Confident and Successful Daughters through Sports.” In 2009, Literacy Advance of Houston honored Storm as a Champion of Literacy.

In 2007, Storm was named a member of The Paley Center for Media’s “She Made It, Women Creating Television and Radio” Hall-of-Fame. Storm is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she received degrees in communications and political science. She is the mother of three daughters with her husband, Dan Hicks.

David Zaslav
President and CEO, Discovery Communications

Session: Opening Keynote

As chief executive of Discovery Communications, David Zaslav sets the strategy and oversees all operations for the #1 pay-TV programmer in the world. Discovery networks now reach nearly 3 billion cumulative subscribers in more than 220 countries.

Zaslav has led Discovery since 2007, executing a number of initiatives that have focused the organization on growth, performance and operational efficiency. He also has directed a strategic effort to clarify and strengthen Discovery’s world-class brands, including a renewed focus on creativity and increased investment in original content. In September 2008, under his leadership, Discovery began trading as a public company on the Nasdaq stock exchange and in 2014 became a Fortune 500 company. Fortune also consistently named Discovery as one of the world’s most admired companies.

Since Zaslav took the helm, Discovery has launched some of the fastest-growing cable networks in the U.S., including Investigation Discovery, Velocity, Destination America and American Heroes Channel, and has premiered such iconic programming and award-winning specials as “Planet Earth” and “Skywire Live with Nik Wallenda.” The company also partnered with Oprah Winfrey to launch OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

Under Zaslav's leadership, Discovery has rolled out TLC – now the most widely distributed female-targeted entertainment and lifestyle channel brand in media – to more than 190  global countries and territories and ID to more than 155 countries and territories markets, creating an unmatched international portfolio for viewers, advertisers and distributors. In 2013, Discovery expanded its international operations with the acquisition of SBS Nordic, a top-three portfolio of television brands across Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland featuring leading nonfiction content, locally produced entertainment programs and scripted series. Most recently, the company completed a transaction to acquire a controlling interest in top European sports platform, Eurosport International. 

In 2012, Zaslav received the UJA-Federation of New York’s Steven J. Ross Humanitarian Award and in 2014, was awarded the Fred Dressler Leadership Award by Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Zaslav also spearheaded Discovery Impact, the company’s corporate social responsibility programs.

Prior to joining Discovery, Zaslav had a distinguished career at NBCUniversal, where he was instrumental in developing and launching CNBC and also played a role in the creation of MSNBC. He was previously an attorney with the New York firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby & MacRae and graduated with honors from Boston University School of Law.

Zaslav serves on the boards of Sirius XM Radio, Inc., the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, The Cable Center, Center for Communication, Skills for America’s Future and Grupo Televisa. He also is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Paley Center for Media, the Mt. Sinai Medical Center and previously served as an adjunct professor at Fordham University, where he created and taught a graduate-level course on the business of cable television.
